2/26 from Heather … Brad is headed home with Joshua and we are waiting on news from the hospital. What the scans reveal will determine surgery tomorrow morning. We are praying. This is the end of this saga in our life. May God get the glory.
2/27 from Heather … Procedure today will determine if bump in his back is a tumor that needs chemo or just a mass that needs a surgery. Either way he will be going home either today or tomorrow depending on how his pain level is after surgery. Several weeks from now they will start the next surgery or procedure. Doctor will start with a small needle biopsy and wait on results to determine if they need a bigger extraction. Pray for no tumor and small biopsy procedure.
2/27 10 AM from Heather … So they are hopeful that the small needle surgery is enough, but the results are still inconclusive. They need to ship off the results to pathology for about 5 to 7 days. They will know by next Thursday, when a team of doctors meets to discuss cases, to determine if it’s a tumor or something else. It’s like the size of a marble, but not in the shape of a marble it’s more spread out. He will have two stitches to close up his back and we will go home today and pray for good results. Depending on the results, he will have to have one or two more surgeries to collect a bigger sample. It’s hard not to have any news, but it be worse to have bad news.
3/7, 7:45 AM from Heather … We got a call from Childrens last night that Joshua’s mass in his spine needs to be treated so we begin consultations with children’s next week and then treatment may include chemotherapy or radiation, but we are hesitant to use the C word but that that’s what we know for right now
