I was raised in a small town in central lower Michigan. I am the second of five children. My brother and I worked on nearby farms, were members of 4-H and Boy Scouts. Our family attended the Church of Christ where I gave my heart to Jesus while earning my God & Country award. I married my high school sweetheart Darlene, some 57 years ago. God blessed us with five children, ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
After marriage we attended the Free Methodist Church where I taught 6th grade boys Sunday School class until the Lord lead me to start a bus ministry. Every Saturday I visited each home and canvased neighborhoods to reach the families through the children. In the book of Mathew (19:14) Jesus said, “suffer the little children to come unto me.” In the parable of the marriage feast, the master commanded “to go into the highways and byways and compel them to come in.” Some of those families still attend over 35 years later. My heart has always been to reach out and be a friend to the lost and needy with the hope of showing the love of Jesus and leading them to the Lord.
In Springfield we attended a much larger church which is now a mega church. As an usher and doing security for the children, it allowed me to work with and meet many people. We lead a small group and were facilitators for Living Free (a ministry for life controlling issues).
In 2010 we came to Texas and started attending CCF in 2011. We were drawn because it was much like the large church we left in Missouri. Although now retired, I still love people and enjoy making them smile and laugh.
I have always loved clowns and magic (illusions). Through these skills I have been an evangelist, ministering in many demonstrations and presented the gospel in most. For seven years I sold Magic and illusions at First Monday trade days in Canton, Texas. My favorite was Gospel Illusions and equipping and encouraging others to use these skills to present the plan of salvation.
