What an exciting time we have been having. Many of the boys are working on their badges and working toward rank advancement. We have added a few new boys and thank God for making them part of our family. Watching these young men grow through high adventure is a rewarding experience for me and it shows the power of God building his kingdom.
Whether forging rapids in a rushing river or riding out storms and tornadoes, we are learning to stand against challenges. We also are learning about service.
As we prepare to advance the program to a “boy run” program, we will be electing a leadership core, who will plan and execute the calendar for the next six months and organize activities. I am personally excited to have an opportunity to teach leadership skills and Christ centered beliefs to these young men. Not only are the hope of the future but they our hope for now.

Most regularly scheduled campouts are the 4th Friday/Saturday of the month, and will be two nights, Friday and Saturday night, but if a boy needs to be picked up early on Sunday, that is OK. Please let us know in advance it if a child is being picked up early. And remember to get your meal money in by the Monday meeting prior to the campout!

About Trail Life USA
Trail Life USA (TLUSA) is a Christian Outdoor adventure program that emphasizes and teaches biblical moral values. It seeks to develop character to produce Godly men who will be responsible husbands, fathers, and citizens. We work to guide generations of courageous young men to honor God. We are built on four core values of Purity of heart mind, word and deed; Selfless Service of the community and world; Stewardship of time, talents and money; and Moral Integrity.
This program instills “Adventure, Character, and Leadership” traits in boys and young men. Camping, hiking, and other outdoor activities help build deep relationships and provide a special context for leadership, problem solving, conflict resolution, and character building. We also value the outdoor focus of our program as a unique means of helping a boy see and appreciate the wonder, majesty, and grandness of God as reflected in His creation.
Some programs are very focused on achieving as many awards in the shortest period of time, to achieve the highest rankings and awards the program has to offer. In contrast, TLUSA is more concerned with building character than with earning badges and ranks. While TLUSA has a robust and prominent ranking and awards structure, this will not be the focus of the program. The focus should always be on building character over merely earning awards.

For Patch PLACEMENT, see the above tab, “Troop Patch Placement.”
Uniform Patch Placement
One of the best parts of the Trail Life is earning and displaying your patches and awards. It begins with the base troop patches. Follow these guidelines to properly display your emblems.
The Troop patch goes ½” below the left shoulder seam – centered on the sleeve crease (or equidistant between the two ‘neck to shoulder’ seams).
The Flag goes ½” below the right shoulder seam – centered on the sleeve crease (or equidistant between the two ‘neck to shoulder’ seams).
The round red Trail Life patch goes 1 ½” above left shirt pocket – centered on pocket button.
Trail Crew – Support
The Trail Crew is undeniably the most overlooked and most important element in a successful trek of a Trail Man. The Trail Crew’s main job is to insure a successful and safe journey. In the outdoors, the trail crew, with no recognition, blaze new trails and repair old trails so that travelers can find their way and stay on the path. Without the support of a good Trail Life Trail Crew, we wind up not having the supplies or equipment that we need to guide these boys on their journey to manhood. We want them to have the basic tools and supplies that can make all the difference in their camping experience. And for some, without you, they would not even have the opportunity without generous scholarship.
We invite you to join the support of Troop TX -3579 as a Trail Crew member!
