I was born in Salinas California in 1952 and a year later my mom and dad divorced. With my mom and brother as my family we moved from Salinas, CA to Salt Lake City, UT, to Hayward, CA and then to Riverside, CA in 1962. Growing up in Riverside, I loved school, music and sports and graduated in the class of 1970 from Ramona High School. Between the beach and the extra-curricular activities of the 60’s and 70’s, I miraculously finished an AA degree in Business Administration at Riverside Community College in 1973.
After enlisting in the Army in ‘73, I married my sweet Debi whom I dated for three years and spent the last year of my military service and the first year of our marriage in southern Germany. Soon thereafter came our children – Shelly in ’76, Jeff in ’79 and Eric as a 13 year old adopted son in ’91.
I enjoyed a commercial refrigeration career from 1976 to 2005 and at just the right moment for Debi and I, we met our Savior in 1980. His life rescued and changed our life! We served as lay pastors for 25 years at Bethel Christian Center in Riverside where I received a Ministerial License and Bachelor’s Degree in Theology. Our last ministry involvement in California was our church’s Celebrate Recovery program.
In June of 2005, I had retired from my refrigeration trade and when Debi was able to secure a transfer of her government job to Tyler, Tx, the time was right for us to move to Lindale to be around our kids who were in YWAM along with our 7 out of 9 grandchildren. In 2008 I had the great privilege of coming on staff at CCF as the Administrator and Chief Financial Officer until I retired from those positions in July 2014. In January 2015 I was asked to consider serving on the Board of Elders and have accepted that honor until my term ends in December 2019.
Thank you for looking at a snapshot of my life and I hope that you will be blessed and in turn be a blessing as you enjoy the community and ministry here at CCF.
