I was born in Texas but spent my younger years growing up in Las Cruces, New Mexico, where I developed a strong appreciation for the Hispanic culture. I moved back to Texas when I was a sophomore in High School and graduated from Monterey High in Lubbock, Texas. After attending Texas Tech for three years, I moved to El Paso and graduated from The University of Texas at El Paso with a BS in Chemistry. Along the way I became heavily involved in the 1960’s drug culture, experienced a painful divorce, and found myself addicted to drugs and alcohol in a very lost, painful lifestyle.
After becoming “sick and tired of being sick and tired,” I gave my life to Jesus Christ and the Lord radically delivered and redeemed me from this dark life of drugs and alcohol. Ever since this radical change of heart over 30 years ago, I have been driven by a strong desire to obey Jesus by winning souls, making disciples and ministering to the “least of these,” both at home and overseas.
On this journey of service to the Lord, I have served as a pastor of youth and adults, as an inner city and prison minister, as a teacher and counselor at a live-in Bible school for ex-offenders and as a certified prison chaplain. This journey led me to join Heavens Family in 2005 and have the wonderful privilege of ministering to the “least of these” in various parts of the world.
My wife Carole and I have been married for 37 years and have a combination of four children with eight grandchildren. I have made a living as a construction contractor, a regulatory environmental chemist and a software programmer at NASA.
Carole and I have been at CCF for about three years and absolutely love our church body. I have the great privilege of serving as a teaching elder at CCF.
